Minty’s Moving was contacted by Zavisha Sawmills of Hines Creek, Alberta to move a gymnasium.  Previously, there had been two other companies who had attempted to lift the gym but failed.

Our operation is based in Onanole, Manitoba and Hines Creek is some 1100 miles away. We were in the middle of completing two of four bridge jobs and as a result had limited personnel to send to Alberta.  A fellow mover, Anderson Movers of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan was asked to assist with this move.

The dimensions of the gym were 60′ x 112′ x 35′ high, weighing 300T.  Needless to say, heavy equipment was required.

Our equipment was transported out to Alberta, and with Anderson’s assistance the building was loaded.  Challenge: the ability to successfully transport the gym from the existing site as ground conditions were extremely soft. Our pulling power was a 2000 Freightliner tractor. Under the building were 6 sets of hydraulic dollies and a tandem jeep which proved to be insufficient.  A local contractor was hired to provide additional pulling power with two Cats, two loaders, and three oilfield trucks.

Why would a Manitoba based company travel 1100 miles to move a building? Nowhere in Alberta was anyone willing to tackle the job.

Once again, we were faced with a huge obstacle but found a way to get the job done, and satisfy another customer.  Zavisha Sawmills was pleased with the move. This building was purchased with the idea of providing their employees with a place to exercise and participate in team play.

Once again, Minty’s Moving lived up to its motto: We Move Anything Anywhere!
